Mon-team
The Mon-team is for children aged 4-8 years, who are the youngest children at Grindsted Taekwondo Club. They train under a system called “mon.” In this system, they wear white belts with stripes in the middle. When the child moves to the beginner team, they switch to full-colored belts. A black mon-belt can be converted to a regular yellow belt (9th kup).
The focus of the mon training is on the children’s motor development, while they are introduced to the respect and discipline that is an important part of taekwondo. This is mainly done through play. The training strengthens the children's physical control, including flexibility, strength, and speed, while also improving their self-confidence and concentration.
The attire for training is training pants and a t-shirt until the child gets their own dobok (taekwondo uniform). We train without shoes or socks. You can order a uniform here.

Wednesday: 17:00 - 18:00

Beginner team
The beginner team is for those who are new to taekwondo as well as those moving up from the mon-team. The training covers the basic taekwondo techniques, series (taegeuks), self-defense, sparring, and much more. Great emphasis is placed on discipline and respect during the training. When you start at the beginner team, you have the lowest rank, the white belt. To achieve the next belt, you need to attend a graduation. Here, you will be tested on whether you can perform what is expected for the next belt. Graduation takes place about 3 times a year, typically on weekends at the club. See curriculum here.
You move from the beginner team to the advanced team once you have achieved 7th kup (green belt).
The attire for training is a dobok (taekwondo uniform). However, you can train in training pants and a t-shirt for the first few sessions before you have your dobok. You can order a dobok here.
On the last Wednesday of the month, the beginner and advanced teams train together, starting at the regular beginner team training time.

Advanced team
The advanced team is for 7th kup (green belt) and above. In the advanced team, the focus is on the details of both the practical and theoretical aspects of taekwondo. In addition to enhancing the practitioners’ skills in basic techniques and new kicks, strikes, and blocks, there is also instruction in self-defense, sparring, flying kicks, and both taegeuks and poomsaes. Special emphasis is placed on executing techniques correctly, precision in sections and stances, synchronization in stance and technique, and understanding the application of techniques in taekwondo. Furthermore, practitioners gain an understanding of taekwondo’s symbolism and history.
To achieve the next belt, you must attend a graduation. Here, you will be tested on whether you can perform what is expected for the next belt. Kup graduations take place about 3 times a year (up to and including 1st kup), and they occur on weekends at the club. See curriculum here.
